Cook (Indian Cuisine) – Full-Time Position

Employment Type: Full-time (minimum 38 hours per week)
Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 per annum plus superannuation

We seek to employ a motivated and reliable full-time Cook. You will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting the food in accordance with our menu and quality standards. The role involves working as part of a team to ensure efficient kitchen operations, maintaining food hygiene and safety standards, and delivering consistent, high-quality meals to customers in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Indian vegetarian dishes, including curries, snacks, and breads
  • Season and cook food according to recipes and traditional Indian cooking techniques
  • Portion and present food attractively with appropriate garnishes, sauces, and accompaniments
  • Prepare meals in accordance with dietary requirements and customer preferences
  • Inspect raw and cooked food to ensure quality standards are met
  • Monitor and control temperatures of cooking equipment such as ovens, grills, and tandoors
  • Store food in compliance with food safety and temperature control standards
  • Assist in menu planning and estimating food and labour costs
  • Manage stock levels, order supplies, and minimise food wastage
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented in line with hygiene and food safety regulations
  • Use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Relevant qualification such as Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience as a Cook (or at least 3 years’ relevant experience in lieu of formal qualifications)
  • Experience in Indian cuisine and knowledge of spices and cooking techniques
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, and WHS requirements
