Mechanical Engineer

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a high performing project.

Working on the early development of military and specialist vehicle systems. This role offers exposure to complex, safety critical programs and the chance to contribute to innovative, real‑world defence solutions.

Your new role

You will play a key role in the design, development and validation of mechanical components and subsystems for medium and heavy vehicles and other tactical platforms. Operating across early stage concept through to prototyping and qualification, you'll work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment focused on delivering reliable, customer centric outcomes.

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems to meet technical, quality and regulatory requirements
• Produce and optimise high precision 3D CAD models (Creo Parametric)
• Perform tolerance analysis, first principles calculations and DFMEA activities
• Support prototyping, trials, testing and demonstrations
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications and compliance standards (e.g. MIL‑STD, DEF STAN)
• Work closely with systems, electrical and speciality engineering teams
• Ensure adherence to export control, security and document compliance requirements

What you'll need to succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
• Previous experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Strong experience with 3D CAD, tolerance stack‑ups and PLM systems
• Background in automotive, defence, heavy vehicle or complex mechanical systems
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a broader engineering team
• Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder engagement skills
• Australian Citizenship
• Desirable Experience
  • Defence or safety critical environments
  • Systems Engineering exposure
  • Design, Development & Qualification (DDQ/dogs) lifecycle experience
