Job description:

Our client, Punjab Australia Pty Ltd is a farm in regional NSW that grows blueberries, raspberries and blackberries of different varieties and aims to provide our customers with fresh and quality produce.

Tasks:

  • Provide strategic consultation to the farm manager and staff on crop production, marketing, and quality benchmarks.
  • Conduct or coordinate comprehensive soil, water, and fertilizer testing through advanced agronomic methods.
  • Based on test results, formulate precise fertilizer and nutrient application plans tailored to crop stages and yield goals.
  • Consult with the farm manager, technicians, and field staff to ensure accurate execution of the fertilizer and nutrition plans.
  • Monitor and assess the implemented plans’ agronomic outcomes—evaluating crop response, soil health, and yield metrics—adjusting future cycles to optimize crop nutrition and performance.
  • Ensure strict compliance with agricultural regulations, including safety and sustainability.
  • Recommend innovative irrigation systems, including high-tech solutions like the Priva irrigation system, and provide guidance on efficient use, hydroponics integration, and advanced water management.
  • Conduct trials of various berry varieties under differing systems (substrate vs. traditional soil).
  • Analyze trial results with respect to environmental factors like pH, EC, and climate suitability.
  • Recommend the optimal variety for yield and profitability.
  • Integrate the selected variety seamlessly into production.
  • Strategically advise on planting schedules aligned with market peaks.
  • Source and manage budgets for fertilizers and crop inputs.
  • Innovate weed control, mulching, and pruning techniques.
  • Continuously refine strategies based on research and feedback, driving long-term growth.

Eligibility:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in agriculture, horticulture or a closely related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • At least 1 year of Full Time Work Experience
  • Strong understanding of agricultural production processes.
  • Attention to detail and quick decision-making to address quality issues, equipment failures, and operational challenges.
  • Proficiency in quality control and adherence to standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with various departments and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Possess a keen eye for detail to oversee product quality.

Salary range: $75000-$85000
