Your role at St John of God Ballarat Hospital
We are seeking applications for a Chef to join our Catering service at Ballarat, on a permanent full-time basis.
This position is responsible for the preparation and cooking of foods required for patients, caregivers and outside organisations as approved. You will also be responsible for the cleaning of work areas upon completion of assigned duties.
The Position
- Preparation, cooking, serving and delivery of food as dictated by the requirements of the daily menus, production schedule and standard recipes.
- Prepare food in accordance with standardised recipes formulated or approved by the Catering department and/or Dietician.
- Follow hygienic practices at all times whilst working in the kitchen.
- Maintain required standards of cleanliness whilst working and to present for work correctly attired.
- Clean the work benches and surrounding area upon completion of an assigned task.
- Contributes to and is involved in Quality Activities with a focus on best practice.
- Participates in determining and evaluating the quality of care being delivered to patients.
Successful applicants must hold a Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification as a Chef, completion of Basic & Advanced Food Handling Courses to meet food safety requirements and previous experience in preparing and cooking food in accordance with production schedules and Food Safety Program.

We can offer you
- Annual Salary: $63,067 to $64,787 plus 12% Superannuation
- Permanent full-time | 38 hours per week | 7-day roster
