The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Prepare, season and cook menu items to established recipes and quality standards.
- Set up stations with spice blends, marinades, batters, chutneys and curry bases.
- Operate tandoor, grills, fryers and stovetops safely with consistent temperatures.
- Monitor cooking times, oven heat and food quantities throughout service.
- Portion, plate and garnish dishes consistently to meet presentation expectations.
- Inspect and prep fresh produce, meats and seafood to required quality.
- Maintain allergen controls and prepare meals for dietary requirements when required.
- Store, label and rotate stock using FIFO and temperature-controlled storage.
- Clean and sanitise equipment, benches, utensils and work areas during and after shifts.
- Assist with stock control, prep planning and minimising food waste.
- Monitor food quality during preparation and adjust seasoning for balance and consistency.
- Follow workplace health, safety and hygiene procedures at all times.
- Support smooth kitchen service by coordinating with team members under pressure.
- Assist with menu prep and estimating food requirements for upcoming service periods.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- Certificate III and Cert IV in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent experience, in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Diploma of hospitality would be advantageous.
- At least 1 year experience in Indian cuisine, including curries and tandoori-style preparations, to specification.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and safe handling practices in a busy kitchen.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining consistent quality and presentation standards.
- Experience with prep routines, station set-up, and managing multiple cooking methods during service.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to coordinate smoothly with chefs and kitchen staff.
- Competence with stock rotation, labelling, storage temperatures, and basic stock control processes.
- Reliable availability for rostered shifts, including nights and weekends, in a fast-paced restaurant setting.
Position -Full Time
Salary-$75,000 to $78000 a year (plus Super)
