Feedlot Penrider

Our client is a family owned 4000head cattle feedlot near Rowena NSW. We are seeking a Penrider with their own horses, to join the team. 

Your role as Penrider will entail working within a small team, assisting the supervisor with day-to-day duties and operations pertaining to custom fed livestock, including processing, cattle movements, and daily care of all livestock. Repairing and maintaining all fixtures & dwellings directly related to livestock to ensure safety and a clean & healthy environment is sustained.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Mustering & shifting cattle from/to pens and paddocks, with the assistance of horses and motorbikes
• Processing animals
• Preparing animals for dispatches
• Cleaning troughs
• Diagnosing & treating sick animals
• Pen maintenance
• Repairing & maintaining fences and yards
• Assisting with any other relevant tasks in the feedlot as directed by the manager

Knowledge, Experience & Abilities

• Previous experience as a Penrider or working in feedlots
• Cooperative attitude and a positive approach to teamwork
• Ability to handle animals with confidence and patience
• Ability to make accurate observations
• Good communication skills
• Capability of riding and handling horses in a sensible manner
• Capability of following protocol to assist management in ensuring records are correct and accurate 

You need to have your own horse(s) to be eligible for this role.

Benefits
This role will commence as fulltime casual employment, and transition to permanent employment after a period of mutual agreement.
