Payroll Officer

Summary:

The Payroll Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our organisation. This part-time position is essential for maintaining employee satisfaction and compliance with Australian payroll regulations. The successful candidate will contribute to the smooth operation of our administrative functions, supporting the overall efficiency of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure all employee data is up to date.
  • Calculate and process deductions, including tax, superannuation, and other withholdings.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports to management and relevant authorities.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience Profile:

  • Tertiary qualification in Payroll, Human Resources, Finance, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 2–4 years of end-to-end payroll experience in Australia; experience with multiple businesses or entities is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated experience with KeyPay software is essential (preferred). If not experienced with KeyPay, a strong willingness and capacity to learn rapidly is expected.
  • Specific experience with Employment Hero as a payroll-related system is highly desirable; familiarity with other modern cloud-based payroll systems (e.g., MYOB, Xero with payroll) is acceptable.
  • Proficiency in managing final payroll processing for two businesses within a single system or consolidated workflow.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, tax rules, Superannuation Guarantee, WorkCover, and related compliance requirements.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Experience with KeyPay and/or Employment Hero for payroll processing and reporting, with a focus on final processing.
  • Data integrity, problem-solving, and reconciliations.
