Payroll Officer – Part Time (3 Days)

We are currently seeking a confident and experienced Payroll Officer to take ownership of delivering accurate and timely payroll for our team of over 460 employees. This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement, and contributing to a positive and seamless employee experience across our four amazing venues.

 

The key focus areas of this role include:

  • Processing end-to-end weekly payroll for employees across Wests Group Macarthur.
  • Accurately calculating wages, penalties, overtime, allowances, and deductions.
  • Processing leave entitlements, pay adjustments, salary sacrifices and employee expenses via payroll.
  • Maintaining payroll data including new starters, terminations, and pay changes.
  • Ensuring compliance with awards, enterprise agreements, and legislative requirements.
  • Managing superannuation, payroll tax, and statutory reporting obligations.
  • Keeping up to date with legislative changes and implementing improvements.
  • Reconciling payroll with general ledger and bank payments.
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Supporting audits, month-end, and year-end processes (including STP).
  • Producing accurate payroll reports as required.
  • Responding to payroll enquiries with professionalism and care.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have 5+ years’ experience in a similar role and industry. Not only will you be technically strong, but you will also be a great team player who is willing to collaborate, support others and contribute to a positive team environment. You will also have:

  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, and compliance.
  • A high level of professionalism with sensitivity to confidential pay information.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • The ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Preferred experience with UKG and/or Payroll Metrics.
  • Ability to work Monday – Wednesday in line with payroll processing days.
