The Role
The City of Salisbury is seeking an experience Project Manager to join our Civil & Transport team within the Infrastructure Design & Delivery department. In this role, you will lead and coordinate a diverse range of civil, transport, building, parks, and open space projects from concept through to completion.
We are looking for a motivated and highly skilled project management professional ideally with 5+ years of proven experience, who can hit the ground running, work autonomously and confidently manage multiple complex concurrent community infrastructure projects. This position is advertised at Level 6; however, negotiation to Level 7 may be considered based on the successful candidate’s skills, qualifications, and depth of experience.
Key Responsibility
- Oversee multiple concurrent civil, transport, building, parks, and open space infrastructure projects for the entire project life cycle. This includes design management, tendering, contract management & administration, financial management, schedule management, WHS and risk management.
- Ensure all assigned projects adhere to project management methodology and organisational procedures.
- Ensure relevant legislation, regulations, agreements, standards and policies are applied and adhered to throughout the entire project life cycle.
- Develop and maintain open, transparent and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This includes team members, Council Elected Members and members of the community, construction contractors, design and engineering consultants, utility authorities and relevant State Government departments.
- Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within approved budget, to agreed quality and with a high level of stakeholder satisfaction.
- Ensure all assigned projects are planned and delivered with a strong focus on safety, adhering to organisational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Skill & Competencies
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years demonstrated experience delivering complex civil, transport, building, parks or open-space infrastructure projects. Experience in the delivery of civil and transport project is an essential requirement for this role.
- Strong technical understanding of civil and building construction methods and practices.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and construction documentation.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with experience working collaboratively across contractors, consultants, utilities and Government agencies.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, regulations and contract conditions applicable to infrastructure delivery and Local Government.
- Highly developed problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making skills, with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, briefs and project documentation.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement in project delivery.
- Proficiency with project management tools and software, and confidence working within structured project management frameworks.
