- Salary Academic Level A ($80,755 – $109,536) + 17% Superannuation
- Based at the City, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University
About the Role
We are seeking a Research Assistant to join a collaborative research environment focused on the discovery and development of advanced materials for energy storage applications. Based within Applied Chemistry and Environmental Science in the School of Science at RMIT University, the role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with national and international collaborators in sustainable energy research. The successful candidate will contribute to high-impact research aligned with RMIT's strategic priorities, undertaking both independent and team-based projects in materials science, with a particular emphasis on electrochemistry. In addition to supporting the day-to-day operations of the project, the Research Assistant will help build strong research networks, contribute to securing research funding, and produce high-quality outputs including publications and potential patents.
About You
- Evidence of experience in well-developed, hands-on laboratory synthesis of advanced two dimensional (2D) layered nanomaterials and their characterisation.
- Evidence of experience in manipulating materials for improving the performance of electrochemistry.
- Evidence of experience in manipulating materials for flexible or wearable energy application.
- Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs, which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, and competitive research funding.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise higher degree by research candidates.
- Ability to build effective networks with colleagues resulting in collaborative outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Qualifications
Mandatory: Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field.
